Margaret River Drug Aware Pro – Best surfers eat only best local produce.

Surfing as a professional sport means that like all elite athletes surfers need to be right on top of what they eat so they get the most out of their body each time they hit the waves.  So lucky for the men and women competitors of the 2016 World Surf Leagues, Margaret River Drug Aware Pro that they got to enjoy one of Australia’s best foodie locations with local fresh produce supplied by The Garden Basket.

Fruit and vegetables, farm to shop, low food mile ingredients were on the menu as the official Pro caterer’s, The Common prepared daily fresh favourites in the competitor VIP marquee café and bar.  Responsible for making sure the world’s best wave riders were surf ready they served breakfast, lunch and dinner to competitors, their families and the leading names in the international surfing fraternity.

Winners Tyler Wright from Australia and Sebastian Zietz of Hawaii ensured they were in peak physical condition.  Zietz showcased that he was really feeling on top of his game, choosing to stay in the water and surf the main break between his semi-final and final heats.  His stamina, thirst to win plus focus on having fun were key to his win.
